Build up to the 2023 presidential election which is less than 2 years from now is becoming interesting especially in the opposition PDP which is keen on winning the 2023 presidential election.

While core Northern political stakeholders in PDP are working to ensure that the 2023 presidential candidate of the PDP is from the core North, the Middle Belt which is in the minority in Northern Nigeria is secretly plotting to frustrate the plans of core Northerners.
Already David Mark has secured enough backing to ensure that he emerges the next national chairman of the PDP against the wish of the core North.
Also, Bukola Saraki's secret plot to grab the presidential ticket of the PDP has been exposed by a close associate who believes that he cannot be underrated ahead of 2023. All these are heating up the PDP and it will form the basis of our discussion in this article.
How is Saraki secretly plotting to grab the 2023 presidential ticket of the PDP?

The former Kwara State Governor has leverage the reconciliation committee which he headed to pitch himself to key members of the PDP across the country.
Those who followed the activities of that committee will agree with me that Saraki toured the East, West, North and South of this country. He even met some former Nigerian leaders like IBB and OBJ.
However, reports from Vanguard newspaper has it that Saraki plans to build on that political tour to win the support of key stakeholders in PDP ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Another strategy here is that Saraki has reached out to aggrieved members of the ruling party who will soon join the PDP and these politicians are encouraging him not to give up despite how difficult it may look.
It appears Saraki also has a plan B and that is why he is seriously backing David Mark to emerge as the National Chairman of the PDP.

What is this plan B? In an event where the PDP final zones its Presidential ticket to the North, David Mark who is likely to emerge as PDP National Chairman won't find it difficult to step down for a Southerner to take over.
He will support Saraki with the influence he has already gathered in the party.
My understanding is that Mark and Saraki who are from the Middle Belt believe that PDP may prefer someone from the Middle Belt who is not a core Northerner to stand as a bridge between the South and core North in 2023 and led the party to victory.
