The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has tackled the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, for saying that he loves the Igbos.
While speaking recently at a stakeholders meeting between the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, and the Igbo community in the state, Amaechi had told the Igbos that he is one of them, and that the Igbo blood runs in him. He said that his mother and wife are Igbos, and that if Tonye Cole wins the election, he would protect Igbo businesses in the state.
He said that when he was governor of the state, he employed thousands of Igbos as teachers and also favoured them in other areas, and accused Wike's administration of not being fair to the Igbos in the state.
While addressing the supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party during a campaign rally ahead of the forthcoming governorship and state assembly elections, Wike said that Amaechi claimed he loves the Igbos, yet refused to support the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the February 25th election, but supported the PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
In the report which was made by Daily Post, he said - "You think you're smart, but you're not smart. You said you love the Igbo, but you supported Atiku, you refused to support Obi. You didn't know the Igbos then you're supposed to support them."
