Nigerian-born Ladapo has been appointed Surgeon General for the State of Florida in USA

A Nigerian-born Surgeon, Dr Joseph A. Ladapo, has been appointed by Governor Ron Desantis of the State of Florida as Florida Surgeon General and Secretary of the Florida Department of Health.

The Governor showered encomiums on Ladapo for having 'superb background' and remarkable academic and medical career with emphasis in health policy research.

Jeanette Nunez, a Lieutenant Governor, also described Ladapo as an excellent choice for the position, saying that the surgeon has excellent credentials and a strong vision to effectively serve the people of Florida, with him at the helm of the public health agency.

The Surgeon General said in his speech that health policy decisions must be rooted in data and not in fear. He therefore praised the Governor of Florida for his determination to see that the people of Florida get the opportunity to maintain their health and wellness.

College of Medicine, University of Florida, recently awarded a professorial title to Ladapo. He also served as Associate Professor at David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles. He also holds an MD from Harvard Medical School and a PhD in Health Policy from Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

His research interests include clinical trial interventions and reducing the population burden of cardiovascular disease.

Dr Ladapo was born in Nigeria and later moved to the United States of America along with his parents at age five. He is married with three kids.

Congratulations to Dr Joseph Ladapo.
