Nollywood veteran actor, Pete Edochie, recently celebrated his 76th birthday. However, instead of being filled with joy and gratitude, he expressed his disappointment and unhappiness with the current state of affairs in the country.
On his Instagram page, Edochie shared his frustration with the inability to access his own money from the bank, which he was told was for his own good. He also lamented the difficulties he faced in purchasing fuel for his car and the epileptic state of the electricity supply. The actor further revealed his frustration with the election process, which he believed to be flawed and rigged.
He said, “I’m 76 today and thank God who has brought me thus far. I should be happy today but I'm not because I can’t go to the bank to withdraw money which belongs to me and was told it's for my own good. I can’t go to the filling station and buy fuel for my car, again must be for my own good. Electricity has been epileptic and has even now become worse. Elections manifest themselves as selection and tried to find out why but no one offered any explanation, so I said to myself, 'Pete, it must be for your own good'.”
It is understandable that the veteran actor would feel disillusioned and frustrated with the current state of affairs in Nigeria. The country has been grappling with several challenges, ranging from the naira redesign policy that has affected the circulation of naira notes nationwide, to insecurity and election violence. It's expected that a lot of Nigerians would be troubled about these situations.
