Ifeanyi Okowa and Datti Baba-Ahmed, who are Vice Presidential candidates for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) respectively, have requested that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) hold a fresh election. This request comes after accusing INEC of breaking the law by not uploading the election results to its online portal and describing the elections as neither free nor fair.

During a media briefing at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja on Tuesday, Okowa spoke on behalf of both parties, stating that the results were not transmitted to the portal from the polling units, which is a violation of mandatory statutory requirements. They have called on the commission to take the high road and initiate the process of conducting a fresh election that will not only be credible but will also be viewed as credible by Nigerians.
The PDP and LP had earlier demanded that INEC cancel the elections and requested that Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC chairperson, step down. Okowa and Baba-Ahmed's call for fresh elections follows this request.
