As the chaos in Sudan gains momentum, loved ones of Nigerian citizens caught up in the tide have been apprehensive about the welfare of their folks. After a series of pleas, the Federal Government of Nigeria was able to evacuate citizens from Khartoum to Egypt. It should be noted that the war that started on April 15 was a result of the lingering rivalry between two generals: the Sudanese President, Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and his Deputy, Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo.

In a viral video shared by the Punch Newspaper, the Nigerian citizens rescued from Sudan were captured singing the Nigerian National Anthem passionately as they were being conveyed from Cairo, Egypt, back to Nigeria by the Air Force aircraft. Recall that in a recent report, the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, revealed that the Nigerian evacuees would arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by 11:23 p.m.
