Dino Melaye, the spokesperson and ally of Atiku Abubakar, has argued that it will be ridiculous for Bola Tinubu, to become Nigeria’s president when the total number of people who voted against him is higher than those who voted for him.
According to a report by Punch, he argued that for a country with a population of about 200 million people, it doesn’t make sense for Tinubu to become president because he got 8 million votes when over 18 million Nigerians voted against him.
He added that this is the reason why there is no excitement or jubilation across the country over Tinubu’s victory.
He said: “The voices and the votes of Nigerians must count. I repeat, that eight million is too ridiculous for anybody to be president in a nation of over 220 million people. It is extremely insignificant, it is not even up to 10 percent of the population of the country. It means over 18 million people voted against him. That is why the country is in a mourning state and there is no jubilation or excitement anywhere. That is what happens when you have an illegitimate pronouncement.”
