Peter Obi, a presidential candidate for the Labour Party in the recently completed election, has spoken about the 15-year-old boy who made news last month after blocking his campaign vehicle in Lagos.
Yusuf Alabi was seen standing in front of Peter Obi's convoy with his two palms outstretched in the pictures that quickly became popular. From the open roof of the car, Peter Obi was seen grinning as he observed the child.
Yusuf Alabi didn't boldly stand in front of his car because he is an Igbo man or a Christian, according to a recent statement Obi made via his official Twitter account. Instead, Yusuf Alabi did it because he felt that a new Nigeria that would make his life better is possible.
According to Obi, "Yusuf Alabi stood in front of my moving car with his two hands fully extended. That day, I was worn out, but he gave me new life. I saw passion, love, hope, and resolve in his eyes as he looked at me. I was more convinced than ever that a New Nigeria was necessary and urgent. Please take notice that he did not behave in such a radical and audacious manner simply because I am his uncle, an Ibo man, or a Christian! He stood because he had faith in us and was persuaded that a better Nigeria was indeed possible. His wish, which stands in for the plea and supplication of most Nigerians, must be fulfilled and maintained.
