The Nigeria Police Force has arrested the suspended Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Hudu Yunusa-Ari who was alleged to have announced the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship candidate, Aishatu Ahmed Binani winner of the April 15 supplementary elections.
AIT LIVE report that, His arrest follows public calls after a directive by President Buhari and request for investigation by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on alleged impropriety in the of supplementary Governorship polls in Adamawa State, North-East Nigeria.
The suspended REC who was detained by the Police Election Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Team in Abuja on Tuesday is currently in custody and is being interrogated to ascertain the reasons and motivations for his alleged improper actions during the supplementary election in Adamawa State, according to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
According to information obtained by AIT.live, the police squad is also questioning other officials and parties responsible for the scandal.
Usman Baba, the Inspector General of Police, has made it plain that every person engaged or accused in the case will be detained and subjected to an investigation in accordance with the law in order to determine whether or not they should face charges. Additionally, he has reaffirmed the Force's commitment to ensuring that justice is done in this case and that all of the guilty parties are brought to justice.
