The English Premier resumed this weekend with numerous tough fixtures set to be played, just a few days after some of the premier league clubs participated in Europe. Liverpool opened the weekend games with a trip to Vitality Stadium where they faced Bournemouth. Despite beating Manchester United 7-0 last weekend, Jurgen Klopp's men were nowhere near their best as Philip Billings's goal made the difference.
Tottenham Hotspur as well as others kicked off after the game. Spurs hosted Nottingham Forest in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just a few weeks after they were eliminated from the champions league. Richarlison opened the scoring for Antonio Conte's men just a few minutes into the game, but the Video Assistant Referee ruled it out for offside after a long check.
Although the VAR decision stood, here is why it's a mistake for the goal not to stand. Richarlison was shoulder-to-shoulder with Nottingham Forest's defender before Skipp launched the pass toward the Brazilian. On reaching him, Richarlison made a dummy run which confused Forest central defenders and he brilliantly laughed it to the back of the net.
Secondly, the Video Assistant Referee should have looked at the incident from different views before concluding or asking the middle referee to go and check it by himself using the pitch-side monitor. Although they canceled the goal, Kane later finished the job for the home side.
