Ndigbo in Lagos State has congratulated the winner of the 2023 Presidential Election, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Igbo in the state under various communities groups and political groups, including Ndigbo in APC, Lagos State chapter, from the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and the 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of the state, at a press conference held on Wednesday , described Tinubu’s victory as well deserved victory.
Joe Igbokwe, the group's supreme leader and special adviser to the governor of Lagos State on drainage and water resources, urged Ndigbo across the nation to construct a bridge across the Niger and join mainstream politicians to realise their ambition in politics.
He urged people to vote for President-elect Tinubu and his party on March 11 in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
Igbokwe begged the state's Ndigbo to support incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu with a sizable vote.
He believed the governor deserved a second term because of his accomplishments while in office and his track record, and he must keep up the good work.
"Ndigbo in Lagos must get involved in mainstream politics because doing so will help us greatly. Peter Obi, who we backed in the election on Saturday, finished third and won a district that many expected him to lose. Now let's support Tinubu by supporting his party and candidate, Sanwo-Olu, on March 11 so that he can secure his own base. Igbo in Lagos have benefited greatly from Tinubu's efforts, and this time we should return the favour by supporting the APC in large numbers, he stated.
Igbokwe urged his kinsmen to resist being duped by anyone or any group, saying that the state is a place for experimentation by learners.
