Nigeria is the first Team in Africa to first qualified to the next phase of the FIFA U-20 World Cup tournament in Argentina. The flying Eagles against all odds shocked many, as they beat Italy in their second game of the competition.
After losing to Italy by 3-2 in their opening game of the competition, Brazil bounced back with an emphatic win over lowly rated Dominican Republic. Savio opened scoring in the 38th minute but Marcos Leonardo grabbed his 2nd goal of the competition just a minute later to make it 2-0 in the first half. Pedroso's 58th minute strike made it 3-0 while Giovane tabled Brazil's 4th goal in the 83rd minute immediately after Azcona was sent of from the Dominican Side. Brazil took advantage of this deficit against Dominican Republic with a goal from Gomez and Martin's to make it 6-0 to Brazil as they grabbed all 3 points.
The flying Eagles couldn't gain any access into the net of the net of the Italian side in the first half of the encounter but it was very obvious that the Nigerians were hungry for glory. The breakthrough came for the Eagles in the 62nd minute when Lawal opened scoring to put the Ladan Boso's boys in the lead with his second goal of the competition.
Just when it looks like the game was coming to a close, Sunday doubled Nigeria's lead in stoppage time to complete an emphatic win over the European side. It ended 0-2 as Nigeria triumphed over Italy in their second game of the competition.
Nigeria certainly are Group D leaders with 6 points following their second win of the Tournament. Brazil however are now in the second position on the group's table by goals virtue after pouring the goals on Dominican Republic that are left with no point.
