Common causes of female infertility

Couples who have been unable to conceive for more than a year are diagnosed with infertility. However, female infertility occurs when the female partner is unable to conceive.

Every couple's reason for infertility is unique, however, most of them can be narrowed down to a few basic causes.

Here are various factors that cause infertility in women

1 Ovulation disorders

Ovulation problems are characterized by irregular or absent ovulation cycles. It can be caused by the pituitary gland's poor control of reproductive hormones. Examples include PCOS, hypothalamic dysfunction and excess prolactin.

2 Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a disorder in which the endometrial tissue that lines the uterus develops outside of the uterus, usually in the belly or pelvis preventing the fertilized egg from implanting.

3 Fallopian tube factors

Damaged or clogged fallopian tubes can prevent sperm from reaching the egg or completely prevent the egg from reaching the uterus. Fallopian tube damage is caused by a number of reasons, including pelvic inflammatory illness, endometriosis, and past ectopic pregnancies and procedures.

4 Poor quality of eggs

This is more common in women over the age of 35. The amount and quality of eggs generated by the ovaries decreases causing infertility.
