No Candidate Had 1M Votes In A State In The Last Election, BVAS Is Still The Game Changer — Igini

In the last election, one of the major issues that have been discussed was the credibility of the Presidential election results and the lack of faith in the electoral process.

According to the interview on AIT, Mike Igini, a former INEC High Commissioner and a lawyer, has spoken out on this issue, clarifying that the narrative that Nigerians' votes do not count is not true.

He pointed out that even though the INEC has so many questions to answer as regards the Presidential election results, no candidate had 1 million votes in a single state.

Mr Igini argues that one of the major game changers in the last election was the introduction of the BVAS (Ballot Verification and Accreditation System).

He says that the BVAS process has exposed so many fraudulent activities and has made it about one man and one vote. He further states that in the previous elections before the introduction of BVAS, it was possible for people to produce millions of votes, which is no longer the case.

He said, ''Irrespective of what happened at the Presidential election, Nigerians must still have faith in the BVAS. In the previous election before BVAS, you will find out that people will produce millions of votes. I want to state this fact clearly that no candidate has 1 million votes in a state in the last election, BVAS is still the game changer.”

Mr Igini says that Nigerians must still have faith in the BVAS, regardless of what happened at the Presidential election. He concludes by stating that no candidate had 1 million votes in a single state in the last election, and that BVAS is still the game changer.

He believes that this is proof that Nigerians' votes do count and BVAS is a key factor in making the electoral process fairer and more credible.
