According to the Punch, Katsina State Police Command personnel thwarted a terrorist attack in the early hours of Wednesday at the Jabiri area of Funtua Local Government Area of the state.
During the incident, the agents killed one terrorist, captured another, and seized one AK-47.
The event was verified by the command's spokesman, Gambo Isah, this evening.
According to him, the police got a distress call at 1 a.m. that day, stating that the terrorists had stormed the family in large numbers and were firing indiscriminately.
He stated that the DPO for the region led the police unit in repelling the attack, during which the terrorist was fired down.
"Due to overwhelming firepower, the squad successfully repulsed the attack, eliminated one of the terrorists, detained Jamilu Ahmed, 25 members of Rugar Sarkin Baka, Goya Village, Funtua Local Government Area, and seized one Ak-47 weapon," Isah revealed. After an inquiry, the suspect admitted to committing the crime and also confessed to a number of banditries in the villages of Tatari, Abasawa, Majewa, and Bageri, among others, which resulted in armed robberies and kidnappings. Also, the suspect admitted to shooting and killing two of his victims.
The investigation is still ongoing.
