Following the recent issues surrounding the character, and public image of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the situation has taken a positive turnaround following the appointment of new board members by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to a statement disclosed by the "Daily Post", the President had in a signed letter to Mr. Ahmad Lawan, the senate president, declared Mr.George Abang as Secretary of the board, while Kola Adeshina, Mr Mohammed Yahaya, and Lukman Mohammed, were appointed as the new board members.
The appointment were subjected to the approval of the Senate.
President Buhari's letter seeking confirmation of the nominees was read by Lawan, on the floor of the Senate at the commencement of Plenary on Tuesday.
The President concurred that the nominations were in direct accordance with the Act establishing the EFCC.
President Buhari, went further to advise the Senate about the need to confirm the nominees in the "usual expeditious manner."
