How the unlawful activities of IPOB would have denied 2,525,471 voters their franchise in Anambra.

The heightened insecurity in Anambra State was alleged to be masterminded by some miscreants of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra who had gone all out to disturb the peace and serenity in Anambra State. Recall that most times, the nefarious activities of the unknown gunmen had taken place on most Mondays of the week when IPOB had ordered a weekly sit-at-home to protest the detention of Mazi. Nnamdi Kanu.

Hence, the security situation in Anambra State became alarming to the extent most political parties in the state had to suspend their political rallies. It is good to recall that at a time, Senator Ifeanyi Uba even lamented that Anambra State will experience setbacks if IPOB continues to disturb the peace of the state and also insists that election will not hold in the state. There were reports of attacks on politicians and their convoy in the state and this situation even made INEC at a point to express fear that the insecurity in the state could be a hindrance to the November 6th governorship election in the state.

However, the latest media report has it that INEC has published the figures of eligible voters in the state. According to the report by Guardian Newspaper, 2,525,471 residents of Anambra State are now eligible to vote in the forthcoming election.

Then I became bothered and disturbed as I asked myself, if not for the swift intervention of the Inspector General of Police who recently deployed a new commissioner of police to the state, and also the latest exercise "New Dawn" in the southeast which is set to cripple the unlawful activities of IPOB and the unknown gunmen, so elections in Anambra State would have been doubtful. So, 2,525,471 registered voters would have been denied their franchise?

At this point, it is good to commend the various security agents who are seriously working behind the clock to ensure that peace and security return to Anambra State, and also this will aid the over 2,525,471 registered voters exercise their franchise on Election Day without fear of harassment or intimidation by IPOB or any associated unlawful group.
