It is our brothers and sisters who are begging for charity on the streets - Yunusa Tanko

According to news that was posted by the Punch Newspaper online this morning, Yunusa Tanko, the top spokesperson for the Labour Party's Presidential Campaign Council, responded to the leader of the Arewa Consultative Forum endorsing Atiku Abubakar during an interview with a Punch correspondent.

While he was speaking, he stated that the ACF is a collection of people who are unable to speak for the oppressed people who are bearing the brunt of the misrule by some of their leaders. In their eyes, it is not about Arewa or the people of the South; rather, it is about competence, capacity, character, and those who have the desire to alter the national narrative.

Yunusa claimed that, for the past 52 years that the North has ruled the country, the Northern area has been suffering from poor governance and that, as a northerner, he has not noticed the effects of progressive governance there.

He declared, "It is our brothers and sisters who are begging for charity on the streets, they are being beaten and restrained by insecurity, and many of them cannot go to their farms, while the privileged travel to their communities on tarmac roads."

He claimed that the ACF had erred and should hang their necks in shame because, despite their prior endorsement, they had failed to guide the Arewa into prosperity.
