More so, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr Shuiab Belgore in a statement on Friday noted that the declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola on behalf of the Federal Government. Adding that "the purpose of the declaration is to commemorate the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, scheduled to take place on May 29", based on the report.
Furthermore, "the inauguration of Tinubu will symbolize the successful continuation of democratic governance, marking the 7th consecutive democratic transition of power since Nigeria’s return to civilian rule in 1999", based on the report.

However, based on the report, "the ministry’s permanent secretary, Aregbesola called on Nigerians to continue to support and promote democracy through adherence to the rule of law and uphold all democratic institutions", according to a statement by Shuaib Belgore.
