Essien Udim Crisis: An Open Letter To Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio From A Concerned Indigene

The ongoing crisis in Essien Udim local government area, the very local government area of Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio who is the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, has become a matter of concern to almost every indigen in the area. Presently, it seems the local government Executives are yet to find a lasting solution to the prolonged issue as some residents in critical sports of attacks have vacated for safety reasons.

Consequently, as a way of soliciting help and assistance from the Honourable Minister, a concerned indigen from Essien Udim, identified as Mr. Sound has decided to write an open letter to the Minister. The copy of the letter as he shares on social media reads thus:

"Dear Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, please sir, we want you to come to our rescue. The good people of Essien Udim LG are dying on daily basis. Innocent people, mothers and children are being killed.

Your Excellency Sir, you are the only man that has the capacity to quench this fire that is burning in our home town. Please sir, we beg of you to intervene in this present crisis in Essien Udim LG.

Sir, the elders of Essien Udim, the house member of Essien Udim and the Chairman of Essien Udim are business men. They don't have the masses at heart. Please Sir, your attention is needed in our land. Mbok.

Thank you, sir, because I know I know this request will be granted.

Yours faithfully, Mr. Sound".

Notably, since the upsurge of criminality, shooting, killing and destruction of lives and property in the area, the minister has not been made heard making any remarks regarding the disheartening development.

Do you think it is in the Senator's jurisdiction to address the situation, being that he is a member of the All Progressive Congress while the ruling party in the local government area and the entire state is the People's Democratic Party?
