Doctor Chike Akunyili is the husband to the former National Agency for Food and Drugs Director, Dora Akunyili. According to an eye witness account, he was ruthless murdered yesterday by Unkown Gunmen, on his way to Anambra state to recieve an award unbehalf of his late wife.
The murder of late Dora Akunyili's husband yesterday at Anambra by gunmen was one of many cases of wanton killings and Kidnapping ongoing in the South Eastern part of Nigeria.
However to solve the worrisome insecurity issues eating the region, here are 2 Key Steps I suggest President Buhari will have to take to restore peace and stability in the region.
1. A State Of Emergency should be declared in The South East.
When it seems that the Government's effort to address the issues the killings and destruction of lives and properties carried out my these Unknown gunmen in South East have not yielded any success, there is no other option than to declare a state of emergency in South East. A State of emergency will give the Federal Government the freedom to use her special powers to deal with the situation at hand. During this period, citizens will be confined in their homes and their activities will be monitored. This will not only limit the plans of those criminals to carry their deadly attacks on citizens but also make it easier for security agencies to find and arrest them.
2. President Buhari should call on round table meeting with Igbo Leaders to determine the way Forward.

The importance of Ọhaneze Ndị Igbo Organization in the Igbo society cannot be overemphasized. The apex Socio - cultural organizations has been the mouth piece of the Igbo community overtime. However one of the fastest way to spread the awareness on the need to join hands together and defeat these criminals that have taken over our region is by engaging Ọhaneze Ndị Igbo. This is beacause the group was created with the sole purpose of unifying the Igbo community against any form of threat or attack from within or outside the Igbo Communities.
