Many hours ago, the Labour Party's gubernatorial flag bearer in Oyo state, Tawfiq Akinwale, was introduced where he spoke about issues surrounding the fast approaching gubernatorial election.
Tawfiq Akinwale said, "I won't step down for Governor Seyi Makinde. I will stay in the race and defeat him." He added, "I don't want him or anybody to underestimate me or underate anyone who is also contesting in the election."
Speaking further, Tawfiq Akinwale said, "the chairman of my party has no right whatsoever to endorse the candidacy of Seyi Makinde. I am the candidate of the party and I can endorse Seyi Makinde willingly. It is not what my state's Labour Party chairman should do."
Furthermore, the Oyo Labour Party's gubernatorial candidate said, "Governor Seyi Makinde should face the problems of his political party and leave our party alone. The problem he is having is that he is not internally clean; he is bleeding internally. He does not need to go to parties if he has indeed performed very well during his first term."
Lastly, Tawfiq Akinwale said, "does Seyi Makinde think it is a must to negotiate with other contestants? Why should he think he is the only one that deserves to be the president of Oyo state? I have more experiences in politics than him because I was holding a position in the local government's arm long ago. I have what it takes to contest."
