Presidency: Kwankwaso denies congratulating Tinubu

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has denied congratulating Asiwaju Bola Tinubu after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him president-elect.

According to Vanguard, the NNPP's spokesman, Dr. Agbo Major, revealed the information in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, Kwankwaso did not congratulate the former Lagos governor because the presidential election on February 25 was imperfect and disputed.

The statement reads, "The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, did not congratulate the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on the gravely flawed, controversial, and disputed presidential election.

"The report that Kwankwaso congratulated Tinubu is a byproduct of anti-democrats', political hirelings', and fifth columnists' imaginations utilizing the popularity of the party's presidential flag bearer.

"The NNPP rejects the results of the February 25, 2023, presidential election because they did not accurately reflect the wishes, mandates, and wills of the Nigerians who turned out to cast their ballots.

"However, they were disappointed by INEC's failure to hold a fair and transparent election and keep its promise to upload polling unit results to its portals, which would have ensured the results' validity and the declaration of the election's winner."
