Buhari Orders Prosecution Of Ex-FIIRO Director General Who Received Salaries With Fake Certificate

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), to commence prosecution of former Director General of Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO), Oshodi, Lagos State, Dr Chima Igwe, for manipulating his educational status, exploiting the system for personal gains and using fake certificate to receive salaries for 18 years.

President Buhari, In a letter addressed to the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, said Chima Iqwe was not qualified for the position of Director General and henceforth should not be considered as the substantive head of any other agency in the Country.

After discreet and proper investigation, the ICPC discovered that Chima Iqwe was using a fake doctorate certificate to occupy the office of the FIIRO Director General for 18 years.

ICPC revealed that the doctorate degree Chima Iqwe claimed to get from the University of Benin Republic in 2001, is non-existent.

The Special Assistant to the President on administration and operations, Ibrahim Dikko Adamu, signed the prosecution letter as directed by the president and instructed ICPC investigation board to commence the prosecution against Chima Iqwe.

Chima Iqwe was indicted and demoted by the ICPC investigation board, as instructed by President Buhari, for using a fake certificate to work as the Research Institute Director General of FIIRO for 18 years.
