Labour Party suspends Kenneth Okonkwo and others - source

Sahara media say the Labour Party's NEC has suspended Kenneth Okonkwo, the party's presidential spokesman, along with Comrade Obiora Ifo, the party's acting national press secretary.

You may remember that Lamidi Apapa declared last week that the Labour Party NEC meeting would be held today in Bauchi, and that the party's presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, as well as the newly elected Labour Party governor, House of Representatives, Senators, etc., will all be in attendance.

However, following today's NEC meeting led by Lamidi Apapa, 12 members of the Labour Party have been suspended.

Alhaji Bashiru Lamidi Apapa, the factional party chairman, has accused the suspended members of engaging in anti-party actions and disruptive behaviour. It was claimed that their crime was issuing a statement without the party's approval.

This is included in the declaration.

Twelve members of the NEC have been named: Obiora Ifo, Kenneth Okonkwo, Pst. Mrs. Adebayo Ekong, Com. P.G. Igene, Engr. Adeola Adebanjo, Pastor Funke Awolowo, Sam Emeka, Okpala, Barr. Folusho Leigh, Folakemi Collins, Comerade Olubunmi Adesanya, Lanre Adenuga, and Dr. As a result of this, they were expelled from the party at the meeting NEC.

Thus, the meeting NEC expelled them from the party.
