Meet the player who won FIFA player of the year but never played in a World Cup

George Weah is a former professional footballer and the current president of Liberia. George Weah is regareded as one of the best footballers to have ever played football. However, in spite of his prolific goal scoring ability and great talent, he was never opportuned to play in the World Cup competition.

He began his football career in 1981 at Young Survivors Claratown football club as a young boy. He played for several clubs before being recognized by Monaco in 1988 where he played for four years. In 1992, he signed for PSG for three years before moving to AC Milan in 1995. He also played in the English Premier League for Manchester City and Chelsea football club.

Also, George Weah is widely regarded as one of the greatest African players of all time. He was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 1995 and he also won the Ballon D'or, making him the first and only African player to win these awards. In 1989, 1994 and 1995, he was also named the African Footballer of the Year, and in 1996, he was named African Player of the Century. George is a living legend who is also excelling in politics as he is the current President of Liberia.
