YPP Deputy Governorship Candidate, 3 Others Kidnapped In Cross River Ahead Of Election

It was discovered that Ruler Agbor was hijacked on Thursday night in Akparavuni people group in the Biase Neighborhood Government Region, of the State.


Before Saturday's governorship election, the Young Progressives Party (YPP)'s deputy governorship candidate in Cross River State, Prince Agbor Onyi, has been kidnapped.


It was learned that Prince Agbor was abducted on Thursday evening in the community of Akparavuni in the state's Biase Local Government Area.


Daily Trust was informed by family members that the kidnappers have demanded a substantial ransom.

In addition to the deputy governorship candidate, three other people, according to SaharaReporters, were taken hostage.

However, the YPP stated that the kidnapping had left Onyi's family devastated in a statement that was signed by Comrade Fredrick Omari, the party's state secretary.


“The depressing news that our Deputy Governorship candidate, Prince Agbor Onyi, has been kidnapped has shocked us to our core.


“The party is devastated by the timing of this criminal act, which is a very serious concern for us all. As a result, we appeal to the Nigerian Police and all other security agencies to act quickly and unexpectedly.


The statement continued, "We demand that our Deputy Governorship candidate be released from the kidnappers' den immediately to enable him to proceed to his community to perform his civic duty tomorrow."
