Two Top Politicians To Watch Out For If APC And PDP Zone 2023 Presidential Tickets To The South

There are two top politicians from the southern part of the country that Nigerians should closely watch as the 2023 presidential election approaches. The governors in the southern part of the country have already agreed to produce the next president in the next general election. Although some northerners have already rejected the request, all southern governors are still adamant about the demand.

The leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have zoned the chairmanship position of the opposition party to the northern part of the country. The fact that the chairmanship post of the party went to the north has paved a way for the southerners to produce the next presidential candidate of the party. If the northern region produces the national chairman of the party, the southerners will likely produce the flag bearer of the party. Likewise in the ruling party, some members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) have also started projecting Chief Asiwaju Bola Ahmed as the flag bearer of the party.

If the two prominent political parties in Nigeria decide to zone the presidential tickets of the year 2023 general election to the southern part of the country, there are two different politicians to watch ahead of the election. Although many politicians are capable in southern Nigeria, two politicians stand out among other politicians in the country. In this article, we will be looking into the two politicians that Nigerians should expect in the forthcoming general election.

1. Peter Obi

If the presidential ticket of the opposition party comes to the southern part of the country, the first politician that the leaders of the party can think of is Peter Obi from Anambra State. Peter Obi is one of those politicians that are capable of representing the interest of the party in the year twenty twenty-three presidential election. He has experience and knowledge about national electioneering processes because he ran alongside Atiku Abubakar in the previous presidential election in the year 2019.

Although they lost the election to the All Progressive Congress (APC), Peter Obi still performed beyond expectations in the election. Peter Obi is a southeasterner and the geopolitical zone has been demanding power at the federal level for a very long time. The Igbos are going to support him massively in the election. The opposition party can endorse Peter Obi as the flag bearer of the party in the year 2023 election.

2. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Recently, a top lawmaker openly addressed Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as "Mr President". That event shows how much people have endorsed Tinubu as the flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC) ahead of the upcoming presidential election in the year 2023. Tinubu is one of the founders of the ruling party, and he will be probably favoured with the party's ticket this time around. If the party zones the presidential ticket of the party to the southern part of the country, no politician can challenge him in an election.
