In a web article published this afternoon, the Daily Trust claimed that an insider at the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) had explained why Dr. Nura Ali, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Sokoto State, had been placed on administrative leave.

Also, it was claimed that the commission had suspended the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Abia State, which was won by the Labour Party.
But Kenneth Okonkwo, the former Labour Party presidential candidate's spokesman, responded to this on Twitter this evening, saying that something is obviously going on because INEC suspended these two people in the states where opposition parties won the candidate of the ruling party.
In his words: "Mahmood The RECs in Sokoto and Abia, where INEC stated the PDP and LP won, have been fired for illegal behavior. If APC and INEC officials were caught stealing so brazenly in Lagos and Rivers, then why isn't Mahmood firing himself and the RECs in those areas? Nigerians should demand their dismissal."
