Effects Of Eating Salty Foods

According to MayoClinic, Salt consumption in excess might have a negative impact on your health. Here are a few indicators that you are consuming too much salty food.

1. Increasing thirst and water consumption:

High salt intake can cause dehydration because your body will try to compensate for the excess salt by taking more water from your cells. This may cause increased thirst and an increase in water consumption.

2. Bloating and swelling:

Swelling and bloating can result from the body retaining water as a result of eating too much salt. Particularly prominent examples of this are the face, hands, feet, and ankles. Abdominal bloating, puffy eyes, and swollen fingers are typical symptoms of consuming too much salt.

3. high blood pressure

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is largely caused by salt consumption. Consuming too much salt over an extended period of time can raise blood pressure, which has major health repercussions such as an elevated risk of heart disease, stroke, and renal disease.

4. Increased frequency of urination:

When you eat too much salt, your kidneys will work harder to remove the extra salt from your body, which might increase the amount of urine you produce. Your sleep patterns may be hampered by more frequent urination, especially at night.

5. Food cravings for salt:

As your taste buds get used to the higher levels of salt, eating a high-salt diet can increase your preference for salty foods. This may set off a loop whereby you crave and eat more salty items, thus increasing your salt intake.
