One of the kidnapped train passengers who regained freedom after spending months in the captivity of the armed bandits disclosed that he was shot while in the den of his abductors.

While briefing newsmen at the Office of Alhaji Tukur Mamu, a publisher with Desert Herald newspaper and chief negotiator, the freed stated while in the captivity of his abductors, a medical doctor examined him and tried to remove the bullet from his stomach, but to no avail.

He further explained that a piece of clothing was used to die the gunshot wound to prevent loss of blood.

In his words: “I was shot in the stomach in captivity. A medical doctor tried to remove it but he could not. He used my clothes to manage the blood which flowed to my knees. He used gloves and search my stomach to pull out the bullet but couldn’t find it. He also used scissors but still couldn’t find any bullet in my stomach."

The victim added that: "Up till now, we didn’t see the bullet. I don’t know if it’s still in my stomach and I hope that now that we are free, I can go to the hospital for X-Ray scan if the bullet can be recovered."

Details about the conditions surrounding the release of the victims were not disclosed. It is unclear whether ransom was paid or not.
