Anambra police arrest two robbers/kidnappers, rescue female victim in Anambra

According to the sun news,On May 2, 2023, the Anambra State Police Command arrested two suspected armed robbers and kidnappers and rescued a female victim in Anambra State, Nigeria. 

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, the suspects, identified as Chidi Uzoma and Ikechukwu Okoli, were apprehended by a team of police officers attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in a successful operation that was carried out at about 2 am in the morning. The suspects were reportedly in possession of dangerous weapons, including guns and ammunition, when they were arrested.

The police spokesperson stated that the suspects had been terrorizing the state and had been responsible for several cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent crimes in the area. It was also revealed that the suspects had abducted a young woman and had demanded a ransom of five million naira from her family before the police intervened.

Upon receiving the distress call from the victim's family, the police team immediately swung into action and tracked down the suspects to their hideout. They engaged the suspects in a gun battle, during which the female victim was rescued unharmed, and the suspects were arrested.

The police command also disclosed that the suspects have made useful confessions and are providing the police with valuable information that will help them to unravel other criminal activities in the state.

In conclusion, the Anambra State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the state and has urged residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police. The command also warned criminals to desist from their nefarious activities or face the full wrath of the law.
