LP Factions Clash At Presidential Tribunal

There was drama at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal on Wednesday when the two factions of Labour Party clashed.

Trouble started when Lamidi Apapa, factional chairman of the party, walked into the court premises alongside some of his supporters.

Apapa who is locked in a battle with Julius Abure, suspended chairman of the party, had arrived the court for the case of a petition which Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate of the party, filed against the victory of President-elect Bola Tinubu.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has arrived the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja for the presumed pre-hearing of his petition against the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu.

LP National Chairman, Julius Abure was also in court on Wednesday. The party’s factional chairman, Lamidi Apapa was also present. The Tribunal had last week adjourned the pre-hearing session on Obi and the LP’s petition till May 17 at the instance of the petitioners.


Court Hears Abba Kyari's Case Behind Closed Doors

The Federal High Court, Abuja on Tuesday barred journalists from the trial of suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, who is being tried for drug offences.

The embattled former Head of the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigerian Police Force is being prosecuted alongside four others.

His co-defendants are ACP Sunday Ubia, ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agirigba and Inspector John Nuhu.


Buhari Returns From London

President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja after attending the coronation of King Charles III in the United Kingdom.

The President’s aircraft, which landed this evening at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, had departed the nation’s capital on the 3rd of May for the ceremony which took place on the 6th of May 2023. President Buhari was scheduled to return to the country after the coronation ceremony in London, but his spokesman Femi Adesina announced an extension of his stay in the UK by a week on the advice of his dentist.
