Opinion: The story of Zainab depicts the saying, your destiny can only be delayed but not denied

The story of Zainab Aliyu, a student of Yusuf Maitama Sule University may still be in our consciousness. In April 2019, the news of her incarceration gathered momentum following her family's outcry over her continuous detention in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

She was a victim of organized crime who perculirized in planting prohibited drugs inside travellers bag without their consent. The evil act against the University student occured in 2018, at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport. She was on her way to perform lesser Hajj when the unfortunate incident happened.

She flew to the Kingdom without knowing the impending doom. She was subsequently apprehended for accusations of drug smuggling.

Saudi Arabia has zero tolerance for drug trafficking, someone is at risk of hanging if found guilty.

On hearing the news, authorities in Abuja stepped into the case. The masterminds were eventually arrested after thorough investigation.

Zainab is now a staff of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). She was recently commissioned as a Narcotic Officer after graduating from the Agency's training centre in Jos, Plateau State.

Despite the ups and downs, she has finally achieved her dream. She is expected to contribute her quarter towards tackling the menace of drug trafficking in the country..

There is no way someone will deny you your destiny, It can only be delayed.
