Adebayo praises Enyimba for playing ‘like warriors’ in vital CAF Confederation Cup success over Orlando Pirates
Abiodun Adebayo had nothing but praise for his team's performance after Enyimba defeated Orlando Pirates 1-0 in Group A of the CAF Confederation Cup on Wednesday night.
Cyril Olisema's 95th minute strike proved the difference in their Matchday 6 clash, as Enyimba topped standings with 10 points.
It ensured that the People's Elephants qualified for last eight of the competition.
Fatai Osho's charges held control of the match at the Enyimba Stadium, recording nearly 60 percent of possession with 8 shots, and the defender was ecstatic with the vital win.
“I would say that we played an amazing game,” said Adebayo. “We played like warriors, because Orlando Pirates played well.
"I’m happy for the three points and qualification but we’ve been playing really well and just needed to score.
“I think this is our best game in the competition. We showed everybody our real level and competed really well."
“I want to congratulate for qualifying too, and wish them good luck in subsequent games,” said the former Abia Warriors defender.
“They made us work hard on the pitch from left to right. We had some good chances in the first half, and in the second we hoped to open the scoring.
“We have a young squad, and this is the result of their best efforts. We will keep giving our best, no doubt about that.”
