The Hatred Is Too Much, People Still Curse At Me On The Street When I Go Out-Desmond Elliot Laments

The election has been moved to March 18th, giving candidates vying for positions more time to engage voters. The governorship and state assembly elections across states in Nigeria were originally scheduled to take place this Saturday. Desmond Elliot, who is running for re-election and represents Surulere Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, came on TVC Your View to discuss his remarks on the Stop SARS issue.

Desmond Elliot said that forgiveness is divine and that he doesn't think going back to bring up those sensitive moments will accomplish anything. At the end of the day, he apologized and is still apologizing to those who misunderstood what he said as he did so out of emotion, especially given that it is a political time.

The Honorable added in describing how that affected him: "But in the end, he didn't change the fact that there is too much hatred. We are all built on love, and love can change the world. Despite the fact that he has been in politics for 8 years and is now out in public, where he is still cursed at, he is not afraid or ashamed because these people don't understand the strain."
