Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, has retorted to the statements made by Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the former Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, who expressed his opposition to the upcoming inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu on May 29th.
According to Within Nigeria, Onaiyekan remarked that Tinubu's inauguration as president would be an aberration since his victory is presently being challenged in court by Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
Onaiyekan suggested that the electoral process in the country should be examined to ensure that winners are elected by a majority of the people and do not face any legal challenges.
On Thursday, Femi Fani-Kayode replied to Onaiyekan's comment via Twitter, proposing that the commencement of the president-elect's inauguration should be delayed until the verdict of the Election Tribunal is made known.
The APC leader asserted that the people of Nigeria have already made their choice for the upcoming leader, and any attempt to impede Tinubu's presidency has already been unsuccessful. He expressed his views in a written statement as follows:
Regarding Cardinal John Onaiyekan and others who hold the same perspective that the inauguration of our President-elect must be postponed until the Election Tribunal has issued its ruling, I have the following to say:
The people of Nigeria have made their voices heard, and the alleged plot by the Deep State to hinder Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu from ascending to the presidency has already failed. We have moved beyond that point, and attempting to halt progress is futile.
As for those who remain obstinate and unwilling to acknowledge God's will and advice to allow Asiwaju and the Nigerian people to proceed, they shall meet their demise just like Pharaoh did, right before our very eyes.
Those who are consumed with resentment, animosity, jealousy, anger, and outrage and who are determined to follow us into the red sea on our journey to the promised land will ultimately be engulfed by its waters.
Whether they approve or not, with the blessings of the Almighty, the president-elect will be inaugurated on May 29th, and those who harbor harmful intentions toward him will meet their demise long before he does. This is the doing of the Lord, and it is an awe-inspiring sight to behold.
