According To Research, Women With Bigger Backsides Produce Smarter Children

Science has discovered that mothers with larger behinds produce more smarter children,

The development of kids' brains is reliant on fat resources found in their mothers' behinds and thighs, according to research done at the University of Pittsburgh. Not only that, but the amount of data stored there may have a direct impact on a child's IQ.

"The fat in these areas is a depot for building a baby's brain," William D. Lassek, M.D, author of "Why Women Need Fat," told The Sunday Times.

The fat provides a molecule called docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which is "a particularly significant component in the human brain," according to Lassek.

It's an omega-3 fatty acid that kids require during their first six months of life to help grow their brains, neurological systems, and eyes. Breast milk contains this substance.

The research found that "Upper-body fat has a negative impact on the supply of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are necessary for neurodevelopment, but lower-body fat has a favorable impact.

As a result, the waist-hip ratio (WHR), which is a good proxy for the ratio of upper-body fat to lower-body fat, should be a good predictor of cognitive ability in women and their offspring."

Dr. Lassek added, "It appears as if women have evolved to acquire these fats and hold on to them until a baby arrives." "These levels are similar to those reported in hibernating bears or whales living in freezing arctic seas." (An aside to the excellent doctor: I'd be wary of comparing women to bears and whales, whether or not they're pregnant.)

"The exceptional fattiness and fat deposition patterns of reproductive-aged women may be the outcome of natural selection for the ability to sustain prenatal and infant neurodevelopment a selection pressure that was considerably less in our near primate cousins," the study's authors conclude.

At the very least, we now understand why so many women consider their thighs and buttocks to be troublesome. It's not because they lack discipline; rather, it's the result of natural selection. So, for the purpose of your child's intelligence, thighs and butts aren't actually a problem area; in fact, having more going on is preferable.

Nonetheless, if you don't have big thighs or a big backside, your child might not be as foolish as you think. It's all sophisticated science that comes down to how you parent your child at the end of the day.
