Former Nigerian Foreign Minister, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi Laments Disobedience To The Law By Nigerians

In an interview with Arise News, Nigeria’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, expressed his frustration over the lack of respect for the law among Nigerians. He cited a recent incident where two individuals disappeared from the tarmac and Egyptian authorities refused to allow takeoff until the individuals were found.

Akinyemi noted that despite appeals from officials such as Abike Dabiri to obey the law, many Nigerians continue to ignore regulations. He lamented the dysfunctionality of arrangements in the country and the negative impact it has on its reputation globally.

Nigeria has long struggled with issues such as corruption, poor infrastructure, and insecurity, which have hindered its economic and social progress. Akinyemi’s comments highlight the need for Nigerians to prioritize the rule of law and work towards creating a more functional society.

In conclusion, Akinyemi’s remarks highlight the need for Nigerians to embrace the rule of law and work towards creating a more functional society. This requires a collective effort from both the government and citizens to address the country’s longstanding issues and create a better future for all Nigerians.

He said, “My problem with Nigerians is that they always disobey the law. Abike Dabiri appealed to Nigerians to obey the law because two people disappeared from the tarmac and the Egyptians said there will be no take off until these people are provided. I am not happy about the dysfunctionality of arrangements in Nigeria.”
