An Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City, yesterday, adjourned the N5 billion libel suit instituted by the former Resident Electoral Commissioner for Akwa-Ibom State, Mr. Mike Igini, against the Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Col. David Imuse (retd) and others until June 29 for continuation of hearing.
After Chief Daniel Ogbodo, counsel for the third defendant, cross-examined the second witness, who had been called to testify by the claimant, the trial judge, Justice Vestee Eboreimen, adjourned the case.
When Ogbodo, who also served as the second defendant's attorney, asked Anthony Ero if he had attended the conference where Imuse had spoken, Ero replied that he had not, but that he had watched it on Channels Television.
"I have known Mike very well, but the publications seem to portray him as a corrupt individual, careless, and crooked electoral man," Ero remarked after seeing the film.
According to Vanguard news, It is inconsistent with where Mike belongs, the civil society that was supporting electoral reforms, and where he was appointed REC, according to the statement.
In the meantime, Clement Onwuenwunor, SAN, the claimant's legal representative, yesterday presented a motion to regularise Form 6, which he said was submitted years ago.
