Former House of Representatives Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has urged Christians to join in transformational politics for national progress.

On Wednesday, Dogara addressed the 12th General Assembly and Leadership Transition Programme of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Abuja.

The subject of the General Assembly is "The Church's Role in Times Like These" (Esther 4:14). Dogara lectured on "Christian Women and Youth in Politics."

According to him, in order for a country to transform, the right leaders must be in place. He stated that women and youngsters have a critical role in achieving the aforementioned goals.

"Everyone has a skill to develop society and the nation," Dogara added, citing the story of the talents from the Bible.

"We are all gifted; skills should not be concealed or hushed; they should be utilised to effect and enhance a country's progress."

"We'll have to answer for how we used our abilities to restore and improve the environment eventually," he remarked.

He did, however, stress stereotypes and other customary impediments as some of the barriers to certain women participating in politics.

Dogara further stated that in order to tear down these obstacles, women must recognize their right to seek education and a better life.

Concerning youth engagement in politics, he stated that concerns such as unemployment and sponsorship might be addressed.

He stated that Christians must be thoroughly informed and converted by Christ in order to engage in politics and have an effect on society.

Dogara also stated that political permutations that do not represent religious balance in the country are detrimental to the country's unity and stability.

The former House Speaker recommended all Christians eligible to vote make sure they got their PVCs.
