Contrary to Independent National Election Commission, INEC's pronouncement, Afenifere, a Yoruba sociopolitical organization, asserts that Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, won the recently ended presidential election.
This information was revealed by Afenifere in a statement released on Wednesday by its Secretary, Mr. Sola Ebiseni, in which they accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of tampering with the election results to favor the candidate for president of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, according to the Daily Post.
The Yoruba group went on to say that the results it received from reliable sources demonstrated that Mr. Obi, the LP candidate, had won the just ended presidential election.
The following was part of the statement: "That His Excellency Peter Gregory Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, won the said election and we therefore back his choice contesting the opposite Statement by the INEC."
Also, Afenifere stated that the country's south-eastern area should produce the country's next president in the interests of equity, fairness, unity at the national level, and a tranquil corporate existence.
Afenifere also urged the INEC to ensure fair elections for the House of Assembly and governor in conformity with the law and the Electoral Act.
Recall that on February 25th's presidential election, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC's nominee, was proclaimed the victor by the Independent National Election Commission, or INEC. Both Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who is running for president, and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP rejected the outcome. They both intend to file legal challenges against the election results.
