There are some times we get into the toilet and find it difficult for us to pass out faeces, and when this happens one is said to have constipation. There are few things that one needs to do to help relieve constipation.

1. Drinking Of Plenty Water.

Constipation results when we drink a little amount of water after consuming a large amount of food. Food remains in our stomach for 3 to 4 hours and during this time our stomach needs sufficient water to help produce a soft stool and when water is limited hard stool is produced.

When next you have constipation drink as much water as you can because it helps trigger a bowel movement. Then wait for few minutes before going back to the toilet.

2. Eat Food Rich in Dietary fibres

When you are faced with constipation ensure that you consume foods rich in dietary fibres. Dietary fibres help to ease constipation because they act as a natural laxative.

Dietary fibres do this by absorbing A large amount of water from the intestine and add it to the stool or faeces to soften it. Constipation can cause damage to the lower part of the rectum due to excessive straining and this may lead to pile or haemorrhoid. Food rich in dietary fibres include vegetables, whole grains and cereals.

3. Eating Fruits.

When having Constipation try to eat some fruits because this also assists in bowel movement. They include oranges, watermelon, cucumber, dates and apples.

4. Get Some Exercise.

Doing some light exercise like walking, jogging and a light massage on the abdomen can help stimulate bowel movement and further assist in easy defecation.

5. Usage of Laxatives.

When all the natural methods are not working then you can switch over to artificial methods. Castor oil, sodium phosphate can be used. Because they contain mineral oils that coat the wall of the intestine and thus allowing your faeces to come out easily.
