Gunmen reportedly attack Folarin's family home and the Oyo APC governorship candidate.

The family home of Senator Teslim Folarin, a candidate for governor for the Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC), was attacked on Thursday night in the Oja'gbo neighborhood of Ibadan, the state capital, by several unidentified gunmen.

Around ten Toyota Hilux cars with hidden license plates were said to have carried the assailants when they arrived at the residence just after 8:00 p.m.

We were able to escape death by the skin of our teeth, but some of us suffered injuries of varied severity as we scampered for safety, according to a victim of the attack whose identity was not made public and who was mentioned by The Independent.

"The shooters had on black gowns and masks. They were firing intermittently while yelling "Where is Folarin, iku lokan e (It is your turn to die)". They broke into Oja'gbo Castle in an effort to find Oloye (Chief).

"With gunfire, they scattered hundreds of people who were waiting for Senator Folarin. God kept us alive.

Senator Teslim Folarin's media assistant, Com. Y. S. O. Olaniyi, is quoted as saying on Friday morning that the attack was confirmed. He added that "at about 8:10pm on Thursday night, March 16th, a group of gunmen numbering about 30 driving in a motorcade of 10 vehicles, stormed the ancestral home of Senator Teslim Folarin with a mission to terminate his life.

They believed Oloye Folarin would be present at that precise moment to do the murder. Due to an extended interactive session with Oyo State stakeholders at YES FM Media House, Senator Folarin was not able to attend a meeting with his family last night at his Oja'gbo Palace.

You are aware that Oloye Folarin is Asaaju Olubadan of Ibadanland, Ile Baale in the Oja'gbo neighborhood of Ibadan, and Mogaji of his family property. He was supposed to meet with his family in his palace, but he was unable to go. Oloye was spared by God's protection when the unidentified shooters believed he would be present at the meeting to carry out the assassination plan.

We have notified the security services to look into the issue, quickly apprehend the sponsors and their representatives, and prosecute them.

Olaniyi voiced fear for Folarin's safety and requested that more security be provided by the police and Department of State Services (DSS) around the APC candidate for governor before, during, and after Saturday's poll.
