The Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has been urged by the nation's capital's president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to respect himself and avoid dancing the "skelewu" with court jesters like Dino Melaye and causing traffic jams.
Atiku and several PDP leaders protested at the INEC offices on Monday, and Tinubu was responding to that.
David Adeleke (Davido), a musician, created the dancing style known as "Skelewu" for his song of the same name.
Tinubu called the incident "a new low" and "a theatre of the absurd," and he wondered how a former vice president of the nation could be so slack as to disturb the peace.
The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council's (APC-PCC) Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, said in a statement that when Atiku announced last week that he would seek legal redress over the results of the February 25 presidential election, the PCC had no idea that he did not intend to abide by his own promise.
The fact that Atiku led a group of demonstrators, or perhaps jesters, to the headquarters of the Independent National Election Commission, INEC, a few days later was somewhat unsurprising given his political background.
Alhaji Atiku, a habitual election loser, reached a new low with what he put on exhibit today with his disjointed group.
“With Atiku staging a theatre of the absurd, we fail to see how a march to INEC by a scanty crowd will provide any victory window for him and his fragmented PDP.
