Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Saturday denied sitting on letters allegedly written by some All Progressives Congress (APC) Senators seeking to formally defect to opposition parties.

Under the constitutions, there is a right for Senator to defect from one party to another if it is duly signed and acknowledged by the senate President.

In a statement by the Special Adviser (Media), Mr. Ola Awoniyi on Saturday, Lawan said, the parliamentary rules do not allow him to deny reading a letter from any Senator on the floor, while he advised newsmen to verify their facts before publishing.
