
The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Yakubu Sanda failed to win his re-election to the state legislative body. Yakubu Sanda contested under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state House of Assembly election.
The lawmaker lost his re-election to Mrs. Happiness Matthew Akawu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in yesterday's elections for the Pengana State Constituency seat.
According to the results announced by the independent national electoral commission (INEC), the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate polled 9,926 votes to claim victim over the Speaker who scored 7,936 votes. Other parties who gathered votes in the poll are the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) with 6,721 votes, and the Labour Party scored 1,028 votes.
