Can People With Gluten Intolerance Eat Quinoa?

Quinoa is one of the most delicious and healthful grains. People who cultivate this plant do so because of its edible seed that can be processed into flour. The grain packs plant compounds, minerals and vitamins that benefit health in numerous ways. One of the abundant nutrients in quinoa is fibre. Fibre is an essential nutrient that should not be lacking in the body, as it plays numerous roles to improve overall health. But with all these benefits that are associated with quinoa, can people with gluten intolerance eat the grain?

For starters, people who are suffering from celiac disease are not advised to eat foods that contain gluten. This is because eating these foods can trigger the symptoms of the condition and lead to the experience of pain and cramps. Also, there are some people whose bodies are sensitive to gluten. When their bodies detect the presence of gluten, they began to react in way that will bring discomfort. Worrisomely, some people have concluded that all grains pack gluten in high amounts and they should be avoided by people with the aforementioned conditions. But this is not so with quinoa. Quinoa is one of the few grains that do not contain gluten. It is completely safe for people who are suffering from celiac disease and gluten intolerance.
