FC Barcelona announced yesterday via their official Twitter handle that the club has activated the third economic lever ,a context used to describe a financial action taken in order to alleviate the restrictions brought about by the club's debt situation.
Essentially,in order to activate an economic lever, the club partially sells assets in order to bring in the needed revenue. These levers mean profitable yet risky opportunities for the club to raise funds.
Joan Laporta,FC Barcelona president also announced that the revenue generated in the club this season runs into €1 billion while the profit generated is €124 million,as they strive to push the club forward in the right direction.
Again, the club will be looking to offload some players from the team in order to create space for the registration of their summer signings, and also sign one or two more players before the official closure of the ongoing transfer window.
Here are some expected arrivals and departures at the club in the coming weeks;
1. Memphis Depay
As per Fabrizio Romano,FC Barcelona and Memphis Depay's lawyers are currently in negotiations to terminate Memphis Depay's contract, in order to make the Dutch striker a free agent so that he could leave Camp Nou this summer.
No club has accepted to pay the €20 million price tag placed on the former Lyon forward so far, which is why his contract is about to be terminated based on mutual consent of both parties involved,so that he could leave the club soon.
FC Barcelona talented midfielder, Riqui Puig is well on his way out of Camp Nou as the player is already negotiating with MLS team LA Galaxy.
FC Barcelona who has approved the deal just wants a guaranteed sell-on clause to be added to the contract,as the player is set to leave the Catalan giants in the coming weeks.
3. Frenkie de Jong
Despite the several rumors surrounding Frenkie de Jong's stay at one FC Barcelona, one thing is certain; the Dutch midfielder will have to leave FC Barcelona this summer if the club is to register their summer signings and also pursue other players in the transfer window.
Manchester United who has agreed a deal with FC Barcelona is lurking in the corners for the Dutch midfielder, and so is Chelsea who hopes to use UCL tax to convince him to move to Stamford Bridge.
4. Murara Neto
33 year old FC Barcelona goalkeeper, Murara Neto has reportedly been approached by Premier League side AFC Bournemouth, over a potential move to England for next season.
Discussions between FC Barcelona and Bournemouth are still ongoing, with both sides confident to reach an agreement in the sale of the goalkeeper soon.
1. Bernardo Silva
For FC Barcelona to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City this summer,Frenkie de Jong will have to leave the club, which is why the club's board is pushing for him to sign up for either Manchester United or Chelsea.
Bernardo Silva himself is open to a Camp Nou move, but everything depends on the Frenkie de Jong's deal, with Manchester City's €80 million valuation of Bernardo Silva another stumbling block that will be tackled later.
2. Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta
At the moment, official talks are yet to open between FC Barcelona and Chelsea for the transfer of the duo of Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso, but the Catalan giants are hopeful of landing both Spanish defenders this summer.
Already, Kalidou Koulibaly and a potential signing of Marc Cucurella could replace them at Stamford Bridge, which gives FC Barcelona hopes of wrapping up the deal as soon as possible.
