APC Vice Chairman Recommends Removal of National Chairman and Secretary, Sparks Crisis; Accusations of Mismanagement and Demands for Retraction and Damages Follow.
The recommendations made by Salihu Lukman, the APC National Vice Chairman from the Northwest, have caused a stir within the ruling party, leading to divisions and accusations among party members. The call for the replacement of the National Chairman and Secretary has been met with resistance, with some party members accusing Lukman of being disloyal and trying to create chaos within the party.
The demand for the removal of the National Chairman and Secretary, however, is not the only bone of contention. Lukman's allegation of mismanagement of funds deployed for the last Osun State governorship election by Senator Iyiola Omisore, the National Secretary of the party, has led to a demand for retraction and damages by Omisore's lawyers.
In response to the allegations, Omisore's lawyers have threatened to take legal action against Lukman if he does not retract his statement and issue an apology within 48 hours. They have also demanded a sum of N500 million as damages for the malicious statement made against their client.
The crisis within the APC comes at a time when the ruling party is facing numerous challenges, including insecurity, economic instability, and political unrest. The party's leadership is being tested as they try to navigate through these challenges and maintain the unity and stability of the party.
The outcome of the crisis remains uncertain, as party members continue to take sides and issue statements in support of their preferred leaders. The APC will need to resolve its internal differences quickly and effectively if it hopes to maintain its hold on power and successfully lead the country forward.
